Mowing in Style

Adam Roudrau, City of Madison worker, was taking pride in his work, mowing the median grass on Mineral Point Road recently. He said his whole crew decided it was a dress-up-for-work day.

In early February, I was honored to be the still photographer in location for a film. The crew and extras were from Midwest for the most part, but the main cast and production team was from the West Coast. All of the photographs were taken during the week of Wisconsin location shooting at the Al Ringling Theatre in Baraboo and the Prairie Splendour Bed and Breakfast in rural Arlington.

"You Can Make Injera" is the recipe book and non-profit fundraiser I was honored to shoot. A couple of the photos are incorporated into the cover as well as each of the steps for cooking this Ethiopian staple.

It is to be published very soon and as a fundraiser will be sold for ~$20.

All of the writing, photography and book design were donated and all proceeds from the sale of the book benefit Clinic At A Time - a charitble organization to help with health care in rural Ethiopia.

Recipe Book

Some pictures taken during a recipe book shoot (my son, Christo, was an excellent photographer's assistant) in a Waunakee kitchen at the beginning of January 2011. Pictures are by Teresa Paprock (who is also the principal writer for the project). The book is slated to be published for Spring for a charitible cause. More information about that later....

Teaching Art at Performing Arts Camp

Cirque and Oz in the same summer. This summer, John-Brian Paprock was an art instructor for the Middleton School of Perfoming Arts, teaching face painting for the camp on Cirque Soliel and basics of set design and preparation for Wizard of Oz camp.

Middleton High School Drama Club performance of The Three Musketeers, November 6, 7, & 9, 2008 in the Middleton Performing Arts Center. Images taken with a Nikon Cool Pix Digital Camera with some digital enhancement. Dealing with some of the auto functions of the camera and the poor lighting presented many challenges, but I remember a photography teacher telling me, "It's not the camera that takes pictures, it's the photographer." Like the football pictures elsewhere, I took these images as a proud parent. - John Brian Paprock

Hello,

This Saturday (March 18), I will be face painting at the Kids Expo at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

I am currently working as the photography merit badge counselor for scouts of Troop 940 in Middleton. Maybe something posted in the future about this?

The photography show (January and February 2006) at Meriter Retirement Community went very well with many positives comments and a return initiation. It was taken down March 1.

"Still the Winds of Heaven" is an original pastel (1993) It was recently published in the Phoenix newspaper. In the February issue - illustration of a story without credit. In the March issue, it was published again and credited properly. So, published twice!
